Sarah Whitney ’18, music director, was born and raised in West Hartford, CT. Even though her oldest brother still gives her a hard time for picking Colby over his alma mater, Bates, she has never regretted her decision. When not singing or laughing with the Colbyettes, Sarah (known as Hermes by the ultimate frisbee team) can often be seen laughing while running around wearing winged cleats and tossing a disc. She still has yet to declare a major, but is a TA for Honors Calculus and can often be found completing problem sets in Davis; that is if she managed to stop working on arrangements for the Ettes. Sarah is so happy to be part of such a wonderful group that has a great time while makingmusic together!1236216_10200896825643154_1610422457_n

Hailey Hampson ’18, president, grew up in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. and moved to Boulder, C.O. for high school. She missed the gorgeous autumn colors of New England so much that she came back to the East for college. She studies Biology at Colby and plans to become a physician. In addition to singing, Hailey enjoys competing in Track and Field, watching insane amounts of Netflix, and spending time with friends and family…and her cats. She loves the Ettes and is so glad to be a part of such a lovely group!

She now studies Economics at Colby College. When not with the Colbyettes, you can usually find her running outside, searching for the most decadent chocolate dessert or hanging out with he friends.  She would describe a perfect day as one filled with tea, a good book, and a cozy fire to sit next to. Samantha loves to laugh and is so happy to have found a group that she can laugh so easily with!

imageBea Woodruff ’19 grew up in Charlotte, Vermont, but was born on the West Coast in Vancouver, Washington. While still officially undecided about her major, Bea is strongly considering declaring an Economics Major this spring. Singing has always been a part of Bea’s life, pretty much from the day she could talk, and she has enjoyed singing with a number of different groups throughout her life. Bea is especially excited about starting her college experience with joining the ‘Ettes! Bea’s other favorite activities include watching football (Go Panthers!!), baking, and sailing. She’s looking forward to a great 4 years at Colby and with the Colbyettes!

Catharine Christie ’19 grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland just outside of DC. While still deciding on a major, she is interested in Latin American studies and Cinema studies. Fall is her favorite season (pumpkin pancakes are her fave!) and she loves the outdoors, especially when she is backpacking the AT in the Virginia Highlands. When not singing with the Colbyettes, she can normally be found working as a CCAK mentor, watching a movie, or avoiding the gym as much as possible. She is so excited to be a part of the Ettes and to have found such amazing friends at Colby!

Gabriella Foster ’19 grew up in Nashua, New Hampshire. She came to Colby knowing it was a place where she could pursue her various interests, ranging from dance to religious studies to foreign language. Gabby has always had a love of music (she began taking piano lessons at age five and later picked up the alto saxophone), but she developed her appreciation for a cappella music by listening to all a cappella radio every Sunday with her dad. She was overjoyed to have the opportunity to join the Colbyettes, but is still convinced that her family was even more thrilled to have the opportunity to make Pitch Perfect references every time she mentions the Ettes. Aside from singing with the Colbyettes, Gabby enjoys Thai food, meeting new people, pretending she can play guitar, and binge watching her favorite shows (including Grey’s Anatomy and MasterChef!). She has loved every rehearsal with the Ettes so far and is looking forward to future rehearsals and performances!
